Dental Space submitted for Preapplication!

Dental space

Our submission for a new dental practice in Surrey is submitted for pre-application with Reigate and Banstead.

Our proposal for the conversion of an existing shop and flats above into a dental practice has been submitted for planning permission last month.

Fit-out with polished concrete floors, curved timber slats, and crittall windows, we aim to create an architectural proposal that centred around and drove the practices' unique identity throughout each and every room. Arches continue from the external elevation into the ground floor waiting room through the use of a unique curved timber ceiling.

The project's planning process was far from a simple journey as it includes a change of use application as the existing retail shops (planning class A1) and the flats above (planning class C3) meant that we were replacing residential space with a dental practice (planning class D1). In some councils, this isn't deemed acceptable as it would mean losing important residential space which, given the current housing crisis isn't an ideal solution. However, we are happy to have received a positive response at our pre-application meeting as this particular council didn't have any policies protecting the loss of residential space.
